PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

The Barrett Hodgson University MBA program aims to be a transformational master’s degree program where the students end up with so much more than a master’s degree. Careers often change, industries disrupt and the world changes itself; with the offerings at MBA program at BHU the students will not only keep pace with that pervasive change, in fact will drive it as wholesome individuals who know their unique place in the global community.

The MBA program at BHU has been designed to be highly competitive, versatile, and pragmatic in its orientation and pedagogical approaches. It caters to the changing dynamics of corporate world both in public and private sector organizations. The program has all the scientifically recognized scaffoldings to instill internationally recognized competencies among students of diverse backgrounds, allowing them to be successful in assorted careers of their choice.

The degree offers a range of competitive higher level curricula on top of solid core courses to give strong foundations to its students. Students will have numerous options to configure the combination of their electives to choose from multiple majors and minors. The value-added feature of the program is its methodological approach to inculcate academic knowledge through industry immersion projects; a feature derived from cutting edge American Universities’ curricula for MBA programs.

Another distinguishing feature of the MBA program at Barrett Hodgson University is the inclusion of a course on Action Research which comprises various tools and methodologies for systematically examining industry problems, and the development of their solutions; and the capstone project which involves the application of this learning to a real industry problem, thus providing the students with experiential basis of practical implications and subtleties of a real world scenario.

Program Objectives

Pharmaceutical Management and Marketing

Over the last decade, pharmaceutical industry has seen healthy growth in terms of profits and employment in Pakistan, however the academic offerings did not keep up with this phenomenal expansion. Barrett Hodgson University intends to fill this gap by offering a tailor made program, which would serve to the needs of the pharmaceutical industry in terms of projected human resource demand for managerial positions.

Strategy and Business Analytics

Includes courses connected with strategy formulation and implementation, plus courses covering the tools used to search, filter, and extract useful information from multiple sources the data, and make big data driven decisions for real business challenges facing business enterprises.

Entrepreneurship and Startup Management

Includes courses connected with the elements of entrepreneurship from idea generation, to development of business plan, to sourcing of funds, to implementation, to operational management of startup, to transition from startup into a small business.

Integrated Human Resource Management

Includes courses designed to produce competent human resource professionals equipped with requisite soft skills.

Investment Banking and Corporate Finance

Includes courses related to various functional areas of corporate finance and investment banking; also encompasses specialized tracks such as security analysis, investment management, risk management, etc.

Marketing in Digital Age

Includes courses connected to all elements of 360 degrees marketing including above the line, below the line, and at the line marketing, with special emphasis on online digital media marketing tools and techniques.

Supply Chain Management

Includes courses connected to the decision making regarding the procurement, logistics, and management of the flow of goods and services from point of origin to point of consumption.

Legal Studies

This track, though common abroad, is unique in Pakistan as it operates at the intersection of business and its legal environment. It incorporates courses covering to the legal and regulatory elements connected with the establishment, operations, and growth of for-profit, as well as not-for-profit businesses.
